The pandemic pushes us to reflect in a new way: how would a world without packaging have been possible, in full epidemiological emergency?

The pandemic pushes us to reflect in a new way: how would a world without packaging have been possible, in full epidemiological emergency?

Perhaps never as in this situation has the distance between the perception of packaging and its service value in everyday life been shortened in terms of safety, protection and accessibility.

“Packaging extends life”, the document published by the Italian Packaging Institute in 2016, seems very current and prophetic. In a simple and a little joking way, the document leads the reader, especially the “non-expert” one, to know the behind the scenes of packaging, revealing its role in minimizing food waste, its ability to preserve, even for long periods, the taste, flavour and integrity of the products, the guarantee of protection from contamination, its adaptability to travel.

The Ethical Packaging Charter Foundation is planning an update of the study with the aim of stimulating reflections on the proactive and collective role of packaging in the light of the new world that Covid will bequeath to us.
