Milan, June 6, 2022

Contemporary crises, in their multiple manifestations, once again question current paradigms and force us to reflect on current models of production and consumption and, more generally, on our lifestyles. This was discussed last June 6 in Milan, at the Packaging Ethical Charter Foundation during the Workshop “The Good Packaging: Ethical Implications and Systemic Approach in Packaging Design”, led by prof. Erik Ciravegna, Ph and editor of the “Stories of Ethics” column for the Foundation’s website.

Organized on the occasion of Milan Design Week, the meeting highlighted how in this scenario, whoever produces, designs and uses packaging is called to rethink packaging, a complex object with multiple functions, considered by public opinion one of the most controversial for its impact on the environment. However, to cope with crises, it is essential to consider the ethical implications and adopt a systemic approach to design, to allow a deeper and more balanced understanding of the impacts, not only negative but also positive, of packaging on society and the environment, and to generate new paths of responsible innovation in the sector.
