RESTARTING FROM PACKAGING

Training, awareness, dignity: when work becomes a path to a new beginning.

IN COLLABORATION WITH

WITH THE SUPPORT OF

Restarting from Packaging is an initiative promoted by the Fondazione Carta Etica del Packaging, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice – Department of Penitentiary Administration and ENIP-GCT National Body for Professional Education in Graphic Arts, Paper Converting and Processing). The goal is to offer incarcerated individuals a concrete opportunity for professional training and social reintegration.

In a strategic sector such as graphic design and printing for packaging—where there is an increasing demand for skilled workers—the project aims to meet not only market needs but also a deeper social urgency. The objective is to create technical learning paths that are also tools for awareness, self-confidence, and growth. Work, seen as an expression of dignity and a real opportunity for change, becomes the foundation of a journey that unites competence and responsibility, inclusion and future.

The pilot project will take place at the Casa Circondariale di Lodi between September and October 2025, with the potential to expand to other correctional facilities in Lombardy and across Italy..

COURSE OVERVIEW

Duration:

75 hours of in-person training, divided into three modules:

• Prepress(25 hours)
• Printing(20 hours)
• Finishing and Assembly(20 hours)
• Review and Practice Exercises

(10 hours)

Participants will acquire technical and operational skills through hands-on activities, use of professional software, graphic materials, and structured educational resources. The course is designed to provide practical knowledge that can be directly applied in the job market.

Support a path of training and reintegration
Companies can support the participation of one incarcerated individual in the training course with a monthly contribution of €500. This commitment goes beyond financial support—it becomes an act of social responsibility, focused on human and professional development.

After the training:

Companies as agents of reintegration

At the end of the course, companies will have the opportunity to:
• Activate training internships (Article 21 or post-sentence)
• Offer trial periods in real working environments
• Consider employment opportunities for participants
This is a concrete opportunity to recognize and value the trained individuals and support them on their journey toward autonomy.

Incentives for companies

Companies that hire or train incarcerated individuals can benefit from tax and social security incentives under Law 193/2000 (Legge Smuraglia), which promotes prison labor as a tool for social reintegration.

Your contribution can help to:
• Cover the cost of individual training
• Strengthen the connection between business, community, and inclusion
• Contribute to building a more ethical and conscious production chain
