The Charter defines ten Values that guide the design, production, use and communication of packaging
The Ethical Packaging Charter is a cultural document created in 2015 by Edizioni Dativo and the Politecnico di Milano.
It stems from the awareness that packaging is an everyday, widespread and cross-cutting element that accompanies the actions and habits of all of us and, precisely for this reason, requires care, responsibility and knowledge.
The Charter defines ten Values that guide the design, production, use and communication of packaging: Responsible, Balanced, Safe, Accessible, Transparent, Informative, Contemporary, Forward-looking, Educational and Sustainable.
It does not replace technical standards or European regulations; rather, it provides a shared cultural framework that helps the value chain make more informed and coherent choices, promoting an approach to packaging that integrates innovation, sustainability, ethics and attention to people.
It is a tool for reflection and commitment that invites companies, designers, professionals and citizens to recognise the value of packaging and to contribute to its evolution towards more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable forms.
